Pachydactlylus rangei (Andersson, 1908)

Pachydactlylus rangei (Andersson, 1908)

Material (one specimen): One adult specimen (MHNCUP/REP 217, formerly UP-MHNFCP-095008; Fig. S31 ), collected from Bahia dos Tigres [= Baía dos Tigres] [-16.58559º, 11.82709º, 98 m a.s.l.] Namibe Province, in 1905 .

Comments: Pachydactylus rangei occurs in Namibe Province, southwestern Angola ( Marques et al. 2018). This species was never cited by Ferreira (1904, 1906) in any of his papers. MHNCUP/REP 217 locality matches the species distribution range in the country. P. rangei was first described as Palmatogecko rangei Andersson, 1908 , being the type species for the genus, but it was later synonymized with Pachydactylus by Bauer & Lamb (2005). The species was recently collected by Luís M. P. Ceríaco and Mariana P. Marques in the same area where Newton collected the aforementioned specimen ( Fig. 6 ).
