Hemidactylus cf. bayonii Bocage, 1893
Material (one specimen): One adult specimen (MHNCUP/REP 208; Fig. S28 View FIGURE S ), collected from Ambaca [-9.26667º, 15.18333º, 738 m a.s.l.] Kwanza Norte Province, date unknown .
Comments: Hemidactylus bayonii is an Angolan endemic species first described by Bocage (1893b). Until recently, it was only known from the regions surrounding the Kwanza River ( Marques et al. 2018). Ceríaco et al. (2020a), in a review of the genus Hemidactylus from Angola, commented on the systematics of H. bayonii and designated a neotype for the species. The present specimen was never cited in any of Ferreira’s (1904, 1906) papers, nor included in Ceríaco et al. (2020a) revision of the genus for Angola.
