Parahelpis Gardzińska & Żabka, 2010: 47–48 View in CoL View Cited Treatment .
Type species. Helpis abnormis Żabka, 2002 .
Remarks. We consider the genus Parahelpis part of Astieae (sensu Wanless 1988), a very diverse group, mostly known from Eastern Australia and New Guinea, where 8 genera and over 60 species are known. Thus far, only two species of Parahelpis are described: P. abnormis (Żabka, 2002) and P. smithi Gardzińska & Żabka, 2010 , both only known from males and distributed in Australia.
In comparison with related genera, Parahelpis can be distinguished by the mirror reversed orientation of the tegulum and embolus ( Gardzińska & Żabka 2010), but until females are found, the relationship of Parahelpis to other members of the Astieae group cannot be specified.
