Prodorsal shield 45 (45–46), 57 (55–58) wide; frontal lobe present; design obscure. Dorsal tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, 20 (19–20) apart, scapular setae (sc) 7 (6–7) projecting mediad. Coxae: coxal plates with granules; anterolateral setae on coxisternum I (1b) 7 (7–8), proximal setae on coxisternum I (1a) 15 (13–16), proximal setae on coxisternum II (2a) 25 (22–27). Sternal line present. Legs with usual series of setae. Legs I 32 (30–34), femur 9 (8–9), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 11 (10–12); genu 5 (4–5), antaxial genual setae (l ’’) 24 (22–25); tibia 10 (9–10), paraxial tibial setae (l’) 6 (5–6), setae located at 1/3 from dorsal base; tarsus 6 (5–6); tarsal empodium divided, each branch 2rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Legs II 29 (27–31), femur 8 (7–8), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 12 (10–13); genu 5 (4–5), antaxial genual setae (l’’) 8 (7–8); tibia 8 (7–8); tarsus 6 (5–6); tarsal empodium divided, each branch 2rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Opisthosoma: dorsal opisthosoma with 39 (38–41) annuli, with three longitudinal ridges and elliptical microtubercles on ridges, ventrally with 70 (68–73) annuli, with round microtubercles. Setae c2 20 (18–21) on ventral annulus 12; setae d 20 (16–22) on ventral annulus 25; setae e 15 (14–16) on ventral annulus 44; setae f 20 (18–22) on 6th ventral annulus from rear. Setae h1 3 (3–4). Female genitalia 15 (15–16), 20 (20–21) wide, coverflap with 10 longitudinal ridges, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 20 (18–22).
MALE: (n = 3) 158 (155–161), 55 (54–55) wide; genitalia 5 (5–6), 18 (17–18) wide, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 10 (9–10).
Type data
Holotype, female, from Populus sp. ( Salicaceae ), Baiyun (33°39.86’N, 111°49.58’E), Song County, Henan Province, P. R. China, 17 July 2004, coll. X.F. Xue. Paratypes, 11 females and 3 males, with the same data as holotype.
Relation to host
Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.
Etymology
Derived from the generic name of the type host plant, Populus .
Remarks
This species is similar to Acaphyllisa cryptomeria Huang, 2001 ( Huang, 2001) , but can be differentiated by coxal plates with granules (smooth in A. cryptomeria ), dorsal opisthosoma with elliptical microtubercles (with spiny microtubercles in A. cryptomeria ) and with different prodorsal shield design.
Distribution
China (Henan).
