Remarks. This is a diverse Neotropical genus with 32 species, four of which are in the Caribbean; one of them is described here as new. This genus is in desperate need of revision and many undescribed species exist (e.g. Wasbauer 1995). This is the first record of the genus for the Dominican Republic.
