Borneodessus zetteli kalimantanensi s ssp. nov.

Type material. HOLOTYPE male. Indonesia, East Kalimantan, Apokayan, Sunggai Barang, Lalut Wai , 850 m, 1 January 1998, P. Mazzoldi ( NMW) . PARATYPES: 1 male, 1 female, same label data as holotype ( CPM) .
Size. Length of beetle 3.2 mm (holotype), 3.5 mm (female); width 1.7 mm (holotype), 1.9 mm (female).
Description. This subspecies is rather similar to B. zetteli zetteli , but diOEers as follows: Borneodessus zetteli kalimantanensis (®gure 2) is distinctly larger (3.2 ±3.5 mm) than B. zetteli (2.8±2.9 mm). Median lobe of aedeagus in ventral view with tip appearing more narrowly produced (®gure 5); lateral margins slightly more parallel-sided (®gure 5) than in B. zetteli (®gure 4).
Distribution. Indonesia, East Kalimantan (Borneo), see ®gure 8.
Collecting notes. In shallow water among mats of ¯oating roots and in small isolated puddles, at the edges of streams (®gure 9). The species co-occurs with the rheobiont dytiscids Neptosternus kodadai Hendrich and Balke, 1997 and N. muluensis Hendrich and Balke, 1997 .
