Recorded from near London by Walker (1835). A doubtful record from England by Barnes (1935). The type material of P. nottoni differs only from the type material of P. philinna in having mesosoma slightly more elongate (about 1.8 times longer than wide versus about 1.6 times) and T2 slightly less striated. The head of this species is distinctly more transverse than the 1.4 times as wide as long stated by Vlug (1985); in fact it is 1.8–2.0 times as wide as long.
