Species Neophoca cinerea (Péron 1816)

Discussion: Sivertsen (1954) and Scheffer (1958) considered Neophoca congeneric with Phocarctos . However, it was retained as separate by King (1960, 1983), Rice (1977), Barnes (1989), and Wynen et al. (2001).
