Material examined. Holotype female labelled: Holotype (red label, pr) // Jamaica W.I. / St.Thomas / Morant Bay Rd / 141/ 2 m E of / Kingston / 9.June 1963 / T.H.Farr (white label, pr & hw) // Calisius / farri / N.A.Kormilev 63 (red label pr & hs) // deposited at the Institute of Jamaica, now Natural History Museum)
5 males, 5 females: Jamaica / Hanover / Lances Bay / 23.2– 1.3.92 Heiss (pr) // ( CEHI)
4 males, 4 females: Jamaica 1993 / Portland St.Antonio / Dragon Bay / 19.–28.2. Heiss (pr) // ( CEHI). This specimens collected by the author are the only new records of farri since its description.
Redescription. As Kormilev’s description is very detailed, a short redescription based on the holotype and additional material of both sexes is given.
Body elongate sub-parallel; surface partially covered by round whitish scales and tubercles; coloration ochraceous mottled with fuscous and black; antennae slender, segment IV without visible plaques; exposed male tergite VIII with 2 finger-like posteriorly produced and inclined projections; females without dorsally exposed tergite VIII; spiracles II–VI ventral, VII lateral and visible from above.
Head. Longer than wide; clypeus tuberculate, apex truncate, antennae slender, slightly shorter than width of head, segments I+II cylindrical of subequal length, III tapering toward base, IV longest without plaques; eyes oval; post-ocular lobes beset with tubercles and with a distinct lateral tooth.
Pronotum. Trapezoidal, lateral margins anterolaterally with a row of 4 tubercles, on humeri with two rows of 3–5 tubercles; disk with 4 carinae reduced to 2 larger tubercles on posterior lobe and 2–3 on anterior lobe, interrupted by ring-like structure of flat whitish scales.
Scutellum. Median carina with spaced erect tubercles, excised lateral margins along granulate corium anteriorly with 3–4 smaller and posteriorly with 1–2 larger tubercles; surface deeply punctured.
Abdomen. Tergite I granulate; lateral margins of deltg II–VII with double row of 2 dorsal and 3 ventral round tubercles; surface of deltg V–VII with whitish flat scales around apodemes; exposed tergite VIII of male with 2 finger-like posteriorly produced and inclined conical projections connected at base by a narrow transverse sclerite.
Venter. Surface without sub-lateral tubercles but sub-lateral apodemes of vltg V–VII surrounded by whitish flat scales; spiracles II–VI ventral close to lateral margins, VII lateral on a larger tubercle; crescent shaped male sternite VIII bearing spiracles obscured by tergite VIII and not visible from above.
Pygophore. Oval, surface granulate, dorsal opening and parameres as Fig.12 View FIGURES 7 – 13 .
Female. Basically as male, but without exposed tergite VIII; ptg VIII consisting of a cluster of tubercles bearing spiracle VIII without connecting sclerite.
Measurements. Male / female: Length 3.8/4.0; length of antennae 0.65/0.737; ratio length of antennae / width of head 0.96/1.05; ratio head length/width 1.11/1.14; ratio pronotum w/l 2.17/2.33; ration l/w scutellum 1.69/1.69; width of abdomen 1.55/1.55; length antennal segments I/II/III/IV = 3/3.5/3.5/6 and 4/4/4/6.
Etymology. Referring to the Caribbean, the presumable area of distribution.
Discussion. According to original descriptions and illustrations, the males of Calisius affinis Barber 1954 from the Bahamas (South Bimini Islands), Calisius insignis Kormilev 1958 from Guatemala (Livingstone), Calisius They are tentatively assigned to this new genus, hence
Caribocalisius affinis ( Barber, 1954) n.comb.
Caribocalisius insignis ( Kormilev, 1958) n.comb. Caribocalisius longiventris ( Kormilev, 1958) n.comb.
