Chorology.
Stenus incrassatus is widely distributed in the northern and temperate Palaearctic from Ireland to China and Russian Far East. In Iran, we collected Stenus incrassatus only in the Talish Mountains (Fig. 17 View Figures 13–18 ) from sea level up to 1850 m.
Biogeographical characterization.
The vast range of the trans-Palaearctic species cannot be attributed to a particular Pleistocene refuge in the West Palaearctic and Middle East, respectively.
