Keilbachia cracens View in CoL sp. n.
Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 A–E
Material studied. Holotype. Male. NEW CALEDONIA, Ouinné Valley, 730 m, 166°28’E, 22°02’S, humid forest with araucarians, 27–30.x.1984, Tillier & Bouchet (in MNHN).
Description. Male. Head. Brown, maxillary palpus very pale brown, antenna pale brown. Eye bridge 3 facets wide. Face with 7 setae. Clypeus with 1 seta. Maxillary palpus with 3 palpomeres, first and third palpomeres subequal in length, second palpomere shorter; first palpomere with 1 long sharp seta, with dorsal patch of sensilla; second palpomere with 1 long sharp seta and 2 shorter truncate setae, third palpomere with 4 short truncate setae. Antennal flagellomere 4, Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A: 2x as long as wide, neck slightly longer than wide, longest setae slightly longer than width of flagellomere. Thorax. Unicolorous brown, setae dark. Anterior pronotum with 2 setae. Episternum 1 with 3 setae. Wing. Length 1.3 mm. Width/length 0.45. R1/R 0.70. c/ w 0.70. r-m and bM faded in specimens, lengths not seen, both r-m and bM nonsetose. Haltere pale brown. Legs. Pale yellowish brown. Apical part of front tibia, Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B: tibial organ with fine and pale vestiture, in shallow depression, forming an indistinct row with a few scattered elements. Front tibial spur as long as tibial width. Abdomen. Pale yellowish brown, setae dark. Hypopygium, Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 C–E: pale brown, as abdomen. Gonocoxa slender, slightly longer than gonostylus. Ventral setosity of gonocoxa sparse. Gonostylus elongated, mesial side slightly impressed; setosity sparse, apically with dense group of setae but without modified setae; without apical tooth, subbasally with strongly curved megaseta on small basal body. Tegmen slightly wider than long, with distinct basolateral shoulders, aedeagus short.
Discussion. Keilbachia cracens is most similar to K. indigena from New Guinea, in the rather sparse setosity at the gonostylar apex, and the lack of hyaline setae at the apex, but differs in having the sensilla on the maxillary palpus in a patch on the dorsal surface of the first palpomere, not in a distinct pit.
