Type:— CHINA. Hainan: Ding’an, Wuzhi Shan , in dense forest on the peak, shrub, petals 5, white, 18 Dec. 1933, Zhi Huang 35537 (lectotype IBSC herb. #64017!, here designated; isolectotype IBK-00190534!). Two gatherings, F. A. McClure 9384 and Zhi Huang 35537, were designated as male and female “type” in Chinese, respectively, in the protologue ( Chang 1954). The one we designated as the lectotype has the flower material dissected presumably by the original author. This species was originally described from Hainan and is endemic to Hainan ( Ming & Bartholomew 2007).
