15. Draba mongolica var. elongata Pohle (1925: 77) View in CoL [ Draba mongolica Turcz. ].
Type locality indication: “Sibiria ochotensis, China, Mongolia, Tibetia…” [over 30 specimens cited, not clearly separated from other two varieties, 15 of them annotated in collections by Pohle as “ Draba mongolica v. elongata m.”].
Lectotype (designated here):— CHINA. [Inner Mongolia], Mongolia occidentalis, mont. Alaschan. Pars media decliv. occid., pratis alpinis frequens, solo argilloso. 5/ 17 July 1873, [fl., fr. immat.], N. M. Przewalski 201 ( LE!). Other syntypes in LE!
Among all studied syntypes, the specimen maximally exhibiting the diagnostic characters of D. mongolica var. elongata (robust habit, linear-oblong twisted fruits with subsessile stigmas, etc.) is chosen as the lectotype. It is cited in the protologue as follows: “ Mongolia occidentalis: Montes Alaschan. 1873 N. M. Prczewalsky, no. 201” ( Pohle 1925: 78).
Note. Apart from the above two varieties of Draba mongolica , the entity “ D. mongolica var. turczaninoviana Pohle ” has been described in the same publication ( Pohle 1925: 77).Among several gatherings, the following were cited and commented: “Sibiria baicalensis: Dahuria. Ded. Turczaninow. Herb. Fischer 1839. Dauria. In alpe Nuchu Daban. 1836 Kirilof. … Spec. auth. (cf. Kirilof) et Turczaninow a lacu Kossogol ad formam Turczannovianam m. pertinent adsunt in H. H. P. et H. Turcz. Charc.” By doing this, Pohle assigned syntypes of D. mongolica to “ D. mongolica var. turczaninoviana ”. Although only the specimens from Herbarium Horti Petropolitani (LE) and Turczaninow’s personal collection (at that time in Kharkov, now in KW) were cited while other elements of the original material of the species name not (none of the herbaria K, P, PRC holding other syntypes of D. mongolica [cf. German 2011; Global Plants] was used by Pohle), this is an explicit indication that the nomenclaturally typical element of the species is included, as determined by ICN Atr. 26.2 (McNeill et al. 2012). This conclusion is confirmed by the fact that most of the specimens assigned by Pohle to the discussed entity bear his annotations “ Draba mongolica Turcz. v. genuina m.”. Hence, “ D. mongolica var. turczaninoviana ” is just an invalidly published name of the type variety, D. mongolica var. mongolica .
