4. Draba alajica var. lasiocarpa Pohle (1925: 144) View in CoL [ Draba alajica Litv. ].

Type locality indication: “Karategin: Glacies Dibarar 13000’. 1896. Lipsky, Fl. As. Med. no. 945. Ad fontes fl. Mynbulak. 1913 S.A. von Minkwitz no. 1115 et no. 1127. Jugum Alai: Tarascha 11–12000’ (9–10000’ secund. W. J. Lipsky). 1895 S. Korschinsky no. 491. Traj. Schaty 11000’. 1895 S. Korschinsky. Darauen. 1904 B. A. Fetschenko. Valle fl. Isfairam 1–2 stadia rossia a traj. Tengis-bai. 1913 N. A. Dessjätow no. 1049. … Spec. authent. Korschinskyana adsunt in H. A. P.”.

Lectotype (designated here):— KYRGYZSTAN. [Osh Prov., Alai Valley], Tarascha , on herbaceous slope, 9– 10.000’, [fr. mat.], 24 June 1895. S. Korshinsky 491 [originally in Russian] ( LE!) . Isolectotype in B!, other syntypes in LE!

Pohle (1925), as he often did in that work, cited studied specimens of the species without any specification of the varietal assignment. Some syntypes of D. alajica var. lasiocarpa (e.g., other specimens with number 491 at LE, including the lectotype of D. alajica ) consist of plants with both glabrous and pubescent fruits and bear Pohle’s annotations “var. leiocarpa et lasiocarpa ”. This illustrates well the fact that the presence vs. absence of fruit trichomes in many species of Draba Linnaeus (1753: 642) often occurs in the same population and, therefore, the separation of infraspecific taxa is unnecessary in the genus.
