Positive for nitrate reduction, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis and gelatin hydrolsis, but negative for indole production, and β-galactosidase in API 20NE. D-Glucose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are utilized. Does not utilize L-arabinose, and D-maltose. Strain NMWL17 (= NIBRBA0000114322) has been isolated from a fresh water sample, Miryang, Korea.
