Stomis politus Ledoux & Roux, 1995 View in CoL
Loc. typ.: China, Yunnan, Zhongdian.
I have been able to examine three male specimens of this species, previously known upon two female specimens only, and therefore I can give some further information on its status and systematic position. The aedeagal structure of this species allows me to confirm its belonging to the vicinity of S. collucens , still showing a few differences that prove its specific status.
Description. Habitus as in Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9–12 . The combination of characters allowing to distinguish this species are: length 11.6–13.1 mm; integuments dark bronze; body rather convex; legs and antennae dark brown, of medium length; head broad, with mandibles almost as long as the rest of the head; eyes reduced and flat; pronotum anteriorly broad, then markedly constricted and sinuate towards the base; basal angles obtuse; elytra very broad, oval, widest almost in the middle, with striae well marked; shoulders rounded, without a tooth. Median lobe of aedeagus with apical portion almost as long as basal portion; in lateral view straight before apex, in dorsal view very broad and asymmetrical, without tooth but angulate on the left side ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 37–38 ). Ratios: El/Pl = 2.42; Ew/Pw = 1.36; El/Ew = 1.45.
Distribution. Yunnan, area around Zhongdian.
Material examined: Yunnan, Zhongdian co. , 17 km NW Zhongdian, 3500–4000 m: 2 ♂ ( CS) ; Yunnan, Zhongdian : 1 ♀ ( CS) ; NW Yunnan prov., env. Bailakou pass, 3600 m: 1 ♂ ( CS) .
