Ficus jacquiniifolia A. Rich., Hist. Fis.
status

Ficus jacquiniifolia A. Rich., Hist. Fis. Cuba v. 11: 221. 1850; and v. 12: t. 72.

Lectotype (designated here): — CUBA. without locality, De la Sagra s.n. (P-00756598!; isolectotype: P-00756599!).

Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not cite the collector; however, there is mention of “Richard II”, which is probably the herbarium where the type was located. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited the collection of De la Sagra s.n. at P as the type ; however, this cannot be considered a lectotypification because it occurred after 2001 and “designated here” or similar phrase was not used ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). Of the two existing collections in Paris, we have designated P-00756598 as the lectotype because it has syconia in the branches.

Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. americana .
