Lectotype (designated here): — BRAZIL. Amazonas , Manaus, December – March 1850 –1851, R. Spruce 949 (NY-689059!; isolectotype: E!, F [photo]!, G-438324!, G-438325!, G-438326!, GH!, U!).

Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not contain a citation stating the name of the herbarium where the type of F. subapiculata was deposited; however, Berg (1992) considered Spruce 949 (U) as the holotype, this could be treated as a lectotypification ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11); however, this material contains only one leaf and syconium preserved disagreeing with the protologue that describes branches, stipules, leaves, peduncles, and receptacles. The choice of Spruce 949 (U) should therefore be annulled ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 9.19). Here, we designate Spruce 949 (NY-689059) as the lectotype because it contains all the elements described above.
