Lectotype (designated here): —Hort. Bot. Berol., origin unknown, Kunth & Bouché s.n. (U-4633!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not state the herbarium where the holotype of F. splendens was deposited. The only original material currently known for this species is in the Utrecht (U) herbarium, which should be designated as the lectotype.
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon remain uncertain, Berg (2007b) is uncertain it is a synonym of Ficus americana subsp. guianensis .
