Heliosperma macranthum Pančić (1875: 11–12) View in CoL .
≡ Silene macrantha H. Neumayer ex Hayek (1918: 143) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated here):— MONTENEGRO. Mts Komovi : “In rupestribus calcareis m. Kom”, August 1873, Pančić s.n. ( BEOU 1718 About BEOU !, Fig. 4).
Isolectotypes:— “ In rupestrib. calc. mon. Kom Monten. austr.”, August 1873, Pančić s.n. ( PAD-HD05147 !); “Flora Montenegrina M. Kom”, August 1873, Pančić s.n. ( BP 124431!) .
Notes:—Three specimens belonging to the original material were found. The specimen deposited in BEOU is the most representative, containing both fruits and flowers. There are also additional labels with notes about morphological characteristics and ecological preferences. Pančić’s dilemma about choosing a name for the taxon can also be seen in many notes attached to the sheet. One of the labels bears three different names, with Heliosperma macranthum , followed by Pančić’s signature, written above the others. The other two designations are “ Silene bertiscaeus ” [sic!], followed by an indication that the species is new, and “ Heliosperma bertisceum ”. The epithet “bertisceus” is in accordance with the geographical affiliation of Mts Komovi, which are part of the Prokletije massif or “ Mons Bertiscus ” in Latin. The large flowers prevailed over the geographical determinant, and Pančić chose the specific epithet “ macranthum ”.
Koeleria grandiflora var. subaristata Pančić (1875: 97–98) View in CoL .
≡ K. subaristata (Pančić) Domin (1907: 165) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated here):— MONTENEGRO. Mts Komovi : “In monte Kom”, 1873, Pančić s.n. ( BEOU 13510 About BEOU !, Fig. 5). Isolectotype:—“In saxosis m. Kom (Bertiscus) montenegro bor.”, August 1873, Pančić s.n. ( W 1916-0022086 !).
= Koeleria lobata (M. Bieb.) Roemer & Schultes (1817: 620) View in CoL ≡ Dactylis lobata Marschall von Bieberstein (1808: 67) View in CoL .
– “ K. vallesiana ” sensu Pančić (1856: 591) View in CoL [“valesiaca”] [non (Honck.) Gaudin (1808: 47)].
– “ K. splendens ” sensu auct. [non Presl (1820: 34)].
Notes:—We found two vouchers belonging to the original material and designated the sheet deposited in BEOU as lectotype since the specimen is more representative. Details on the label match the locality given in the protologue and the year of collection is the same year in which Pančić collected material to prepare the Elenchus . The specimen deposited in W was indicated as type material without specification of the type status.
Orobanche cruenta var. adusta Pančić (1875: 72) View in CoL .
≡ Orobanche reticulata View in CoL [ var. pallidiflora ] f. adusta (Pančić) Beck (1890: 220) .
Lectotype (designated here):— MONTENEGRO. Mts Komovi : “In saxosis ad Mrdzanov do sub m. Kom in Crnagora”, August 1873, Pančić s.n. ( BEOU 8116 About BEOU !, Fig. 6).
Notes:— There are four specimens mounted on the same herbarium sheet under the same number. The first one from the left was probably sent by Tomassini (question mark on the label around it) for comparison, as stated in Elenchus . Since Pančić spent two days on Mts Komovi and there are two different labels the specimens may not belong to a single gathering. We here designate the third specimen from the left as lectotype, being the most complete and representative .
Sonchus pallescens Pančić (1875: 55) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated here):— MONTENEGRO. Cetinje : “Цеtиње [Cetinje]”, s.d., J. Pančić s.n. ( BEOU 15443 About BEOU !, Fig. 7).
= Sonchus oleraceus Linnaeus (1753: 794) View in CoL .
Notes:— Pančić asked colleagues for an opinion about material sent as Sonchus glaucescens Jord. ( Pančić 1875) View in CoL —the name that is written on the label of the specimen designated here as lectotype. The year and month of the collection are missing on the label, but Pančić visited Cetinje only in 1873, during his one and only visit to Montenegro. Notably , the locality (“Цеtиње [Cetinje]”) is written in Cyrillic except for the letter “t”, written in Latin alphabet, which is characteristic for Pančić (Vukojičić pers. obs.). This voucher is the only one from the original material that we could trace .
