Heteromeringia czernyi Kertész, 1903 View in CoL

( Figs 12–15 View FIGURES 12–15 )

Distribution. Widespread in the Neotropical region, occurring from Mexico to Argentina and several Caribbean Islands, namely: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Tobago, and Trinidad, and with many color variations ( Lonsdale & Marshall 2007a).

Material examined. Brasil, PE[= Pernambuco], Fernando de Noronha, Tr. [trilha] Golfinhos , 3°51’17”S – 32°26’26”W / 27.vii–5.viii.2019, Malaise Gd [=Grande], J.A. Rafael, F. Limeira-de-Oliveira & L.C. Castro (1♀ INPA). GoogleMaps

Remarks. Heteromeringia was characterized by Lonsdale & Marshall (2007a). The female specimen from Fernando de Noronha fits the following non-genitalic characters of the genus: three fronto-orbital setae ( Figs 12, 14 View FIGURES 12–15 ); interfrontal seta absent; outer angular extension on pedicel blunt and obtuse, inner extension on pedicel absent; all acrostichal setae uniform in size ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12–15 ); scutellum flattened and wrinkled dorsally; one small lateral scutellar seta; tibiae without dorsal preapical setae; subcostal break indistinct ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 12–15 ). The female specimen fits H. czernyi species group by three fronto-orbital setae, a vibrissa-like anterior genal seta, and black thorax ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12–15 ). It runs to couplet 13 of H. czernyi in the key presented by Lonsdale & Marshall (2007a), except by postpedicel with outer side yellow and inner side predominantly brown ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 12–15 ). Additionally, we identified it as H. czernyi because it is the only member of the H. czernyi species group with three fronto-orbitals and black thorax ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 12–15 ).
