Indridae Burnett 1828 View in CoL
Indridae Burnett 1828 View in CoL , Quart. J. Lit. Sci. Arts Lond., 2: 306-307.
Genera: 3 genera with 11 species:
Genus Avahi Jourdan 1834 (3 species)
Genus Indri E. Geoffroy and G. Cuvier 1796 (1 species with 2 subspecies)
Genus Propithecus Bennett 1832 (7 species with 4 subspecies)
Discussion: Reviewed by Groves (2001 c). Properly Indridae (see Jenkins,1987:43), but Indriidae was conserved as the correct spelling by Opinion 1995 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (2002 a). The Indrid clade includes two recently-extinct families or subfamilies, Archaeolemuridae and Palaeopropithecidae ( McKenna and Bell, 1997) .
