Distribution. Central and Southern Europe, S England, Middle East, Caucasus, Transcaucasia, Turkmenistan, Kirgizia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, W China (Xinjang), SW Siberia, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco ( Staudinger 1871a; Christoph 1888b; Staudinger & Rebel 1901; Spuler 1910; Anders & Seitz, 1923; Schwingenschuss 1938; Wiltshire 1944, 1949b, 1957; Chneour 1955; Barou 1967; Rungs 1979; Krivokhatskyi 1985; Didmanidze & Yakovlev 2007 ; Saldaitis et al. 2007; Yakovlev 2010 ).
Distribution in Iran. According to the present study this species is distributed in Ardebil, Fars, Ilam and Khuzestan Provinces ( Fig. 35B View FIGURE 35 ). However, Wieser et al. (2001) have reported it from Golestan Province (Golestan National Park: Ghale Palangan, Sasan, Mianghaleh).
Host plants. Ph. australis (Cav.) Steud. (Poaceae) , Typha latipholia L. ( Typhaceae ) ( Wiltshire 1944; Hrubý 1964; Gómez-Bustillo & Fernándes-Rubio 1976; Skinner 1985; Speidel 1994; Piskunov et al. 2000; Wilson 2004).
