Diagnosis. This species externally differs from the other species of the genus in smaller size, and somewhat pointed and darker forewings ( Figs. 16A, B ). Internally, the male genitalia of this species has slightly more curved arms of transtilla, with no incision at the lower margin of juxta ( Yakovlev, 2004a ).Anterior end of juxta in K. durelli and K. baj Yakovlev, 2011 is quadrate with rounded corners ( Fig. 17G ); while it is circular in K. schablyai and triangular in K. tapinus and K. modestus , mostly with incision ( Fig. 17H ). Therefore, the authors believe that the shape of juxta is more important than the incision of its lower margin.

Kotchevnik durelli together with K. modestus ( Staudinger, 1887) and K. tapinus ( Püngeler, 1898) belong to the “ modestus ” species-group ( Yakovlev 2004a ). The female genitalia of K. durelli is more close to K. tapinus than K. modestus ; however, there are few differences between them:

In K. durelli sternum VIII has a pair of small sclerotized, nearly rounded plates at the anterior end ( Figs. 17A, C, E ) which is indistinguishable in K. tapinus ( Figs. 17B, D ). Moreover, in K. durelli corpus bursae is more or less tube-like and slighltly broadend anteriorly; while in K. tapinus it is cylindrical with nearly equal width throughout the length ( Fig. 17B ).

Description of the female. Female ( Figs. 16A, C, D ). Head: Vertex with appressed black scales laterally, dirty cream admixed with black scales medially; frons with erect black scales near vertex, in the middle and anterior end with erect black admixed with whitish-cream scales; labial palpus upturned, covered with cream and brown scales laterally as well as a mixture of elongate dark brown and cream scales internally, nearly elongate dark brown setae on lateral sides extended to the end of second segment. Length of the labial palpus nearly 1.2 times as long as the horizontal diameter of compound eye, second segment the longest (almost three times of the length of third segment), third segment slightly smaller than the first one; antenna unipectinate, length less than half the length of forewing, with very short pectin process and two pairs of very short lateral ciliae.

Thorax: Grayish-brown admixed with balck scales; tegula with black scales posteriorely. Forewing ( Fig. 16A ) 15.5 mm, elongate, with smooth costal margin and obliquely rounded termen, apex somewhat pointed; upperside dark gray, at proximal half without pattern, distal half with a reticulate pattern of very narrow and transverse dark brown streakes, ochreouse spot at the basal area beneath the discal cell weakly expressed. Fringes dark-gray basally, dirty-cream distally; underside glossy, slightly paler than the upperside. Hindwing, upperside same as the forewing, with the exception of having no pattern, fringes like forewing; undersides glossy, slightly paler than the upperside.

Abdomen: Gray. Genitalia ( Figs. 17A, C, E ) with papillae anales conical-semispherical, covered with moderate setae, especially at lateral sides; both apophyses posteriores and anteriores elongate and narrow, the former tapering towards the posterior end, length of the apophyses posteriores almost 1.8 times of the length of apophyses anteriores; sternum VIII with a pair of small sclerotized and nearly rounded plates anteriorly; ostium bursae small, with slightly folded edges; antrum membranous, border between antrum and ductus bursae indistinguishable; collicullum absent; ductus bursae membranous, narrow, deeply folded longitudinally, with length less than 0.2 times of the length of corpus bursae; corpus bursae tube-shaped, elongate, slighltly broadend anteriorly, its width eight times of the widest part of ductus bursae, without signum.

Distribution. Armenia, Russia (Dagestan), Turkey ( Yakovlev 2004a , 2011a).

Distribution in Iran. NW Iran ( Fig. 32E ).

Remarks. Kotchevnik durelli was described by Yakovlev (2004a) based on 18 male specimens collected in Armenia, and since then the female remained undescribed ( Yakovlev 2004a , 2011a). Among the examined specimens in HMIM, there was a female having the same wing pattern as males. This female, like the male specimens, has been collected in North West of Iran, East Azarbaijan Province. Based on the overall similarity, we considered the female to be conspesific with these males. This species is newly reported for the fauna of Iran.

Comments. Forewing length of the examined males in average is larger (14.3–18.0 mm; = 16.06 mm ± 1.44, n = 5) than that of the holotype (13.0–14.0 mm; see Yakovlev 2004a: 364 ).
