Note: The original description stated that paratypes were deposited in the Herman Lent Collection (HLC).Both the HLC and the CLC are in the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, but the former is part of the Triatomines Collection of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute ( CTIOC) and the latter is part of the CEIOC.

Holotype male (n° 4416); Brazil: Mato Grosso, Maracajú; Shannon and Lane col., III-1937 (wings, fore femur, fore tibia and genitalia on slides 4298¯4300, 4615, and 5259).

Note: This specimen is distributed among three pins: one with the head, pronotum, and some legs; another with the abdomen; and a third with an empty paper triangle. Some body parts originally attached to this triangle were probably lost.

Note: Almeida et al. (2014) did not find this specimen, but now it has been located.

Present status: Ophisthacidius lutzi ( Costa Lima, 1940b); new combination by Lent & Wygodzinsky (1947b: 355) Holotype male (n o 2100); Argentina: Chaco de Santiago del Estero, Rio Salado; [no collection date; uncertain collector].

Note: No type material was explicitly designated for this species, but because the original description implies that it was described based on a single specimen, the above holotype was fixed by monotypy based on Article 73.1.2 of the ICZN (1999). Almeida et al. (2014) mentioned that this specimen had no collector information, but its label indicates “Janvier” and “Collection Wagner”.
