Flavoparmelia caperata (L.) Hale
status

Lichen caperatus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1147. 1753.

"Habitat in Europa & America ad saxa & arbores." RCN: 8208.

Lectotype (Mattsson in Opera Bot. 119: 41. 1993): [icon] " Lichenoides caperatum , rosacee expansum e sulphureo virens " in Dillenius, Hist. Musc.: 193, t. 25, f 97. 1741. - Epitype ( Jørgensen & al. in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 287, 373. 1994): Herb. Dillenius Tab. XXV, sheet 97B ( OXF) .

Current name: Flavoparmelia caperata (L.) Hale ( Parmeliaceae).

Note: Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 286, 373. 1994), unaware of Mattsson’s earlier choice, independently designated the same Dillenius illustration as lectotype. However, their epitype choice stands.
