Pucaya Ohaus 1919: 675 . Type species: Pucaya castanea Ohaus 1910: 675 .

Diagnosis. Pucaya can be differentiated from other genera of Pentodontini by the head with two large, horn-shaped tubercles; trapezoidal clypeus; pronotum with two tumescences; eye canthus with a few erect setae; and spiculum gastrale with base shorter than branches. Arrow (1911) indicated that P. nodicollis should be included in this genus by coloration and clypeal shape. However, Pucaya can be differentiated by having a larger size, prominent frontal tubercles, and large pronotal tumescences.

Distribution. The genus contains two validated species, all of which are in Colombia ( Endrödi 1985) and Ecuador ( Ratcliffe 2003), and only one ( Pucaya castanea ) occurs in Central America ( Ratcliffe 2003).
