Poecilimon antalyaensis ( Karabağ, 1975) View in CoL comb. n.

Parapoecilimon antalyaensis Karabağ (1975) View in CoL : 340.

This species ranges along the western part of Mediterranean coast of Anatolia and exhibits a great diversity both in morphology and song in the area ( Figure 1C View FIGURE 1 ). The populations in each of these geographic areas differ mainly by their songs, but also some morphological differences are observed. The partial geographically related differences in song and morphology allow us to put partial taxonomic borders between the “populations” and describe them as subspecies. As a result of these statements Poecilimon antalyaensis View in CoL comprises three subspecies: (i) the nominate subspecies Poecilimon antalyaensis antalyaensis ( Karabağ, 1975) View in CoL , (ii) the western population from the area from the west of Kemer to Demre as Poecilimon antalyaensis myrae View in CoL subsp. n., and (iii) the eastern population from Anamur and Gazipaşa as Poecilimon antalyaensis anemurium View in CoL subsp. n. Phenotypical differences among the forms are distinct and early genetic data (Çıplak et al.; unpublished data) indicate that they do not share haplotypes. On the other hand, maybe we sampled remote populations and the contact zones population not sampled yet may share haplotypes. Thus, we considered the new forms as subspecies. General characteristics of the three forms are similar and description by Karabağ (1975) can be applied to all. However, a supplement to description for undefined characters in Karabağ (1975) is provided below.

Male. Fastigium of vertex about 1/3 of scapus. Pronotum as in the group, median sulcus located before the middle, cylindrical in prozona and inflated in metazona, caudal margin of the disc widely convex, medial carina absent or there is a light line, disk bordered with large light lines; paranotal margin almost straight along prozona and slightly S shaped along metazona ( Figure 3F–H View FIGURE 3 ). Tegmina fully covered by pronotum ( Figure 5F–H View FIGURE 5 ). Stridulatory teeth are conic at the proximal and at the distal part, and wide in the middle of the stridulatory file ( Figure 6F–H View FIGURE 6 ). The number of stridulatory teeth varies between 70 and 140 (differs between subspecies). Cerci cylindrical, roundly curved in their distal 2/3 or 1/4 (differs between subspecies), and weakly or visibly tapered distalward from the base, with a robust or sometimes pointed apex and 2–4 small denticles on their external margin ( Figure 9F–H View FIGURE 9 ); subgenital plate slightly longer than wide and oval in its distal half, distal margin is slightly convex ( Figure 11F–H View FIGURE 11 ). Female. Similar to male in general. Pronotum less inflated in metazona and margins of paranota almost oblique (F–H in Figure 7–8 View FIGURE 7 View FIGURE 8 ). Subgenital plate twice as broad as long and with convex caudal margin; ovipositor relatively short and robust ( Figure 12F–H View FIGURE 12 ).

Coloration. General coloration yellowish or reddish brown with dark brown spots and patterns; the disc of pronotum reddish brown; tegmina dirty brown. Abdomen with a brown band dorsally along the middle of terga.

Song. See acoustic part of the text.

Remarks. There are previous records of Parapoecilimon antalyaensis from Antalya ( Ünal 2001; Mol et al. 2016). In the light of the data presented here, we conclude that the record by Ünal (2001) refers to P. antalyaensis antalyaensis and that by Mol et al. (2016) to P. antalyaensis myrae .
