Distribution. Japan, East and South China Seas, Philippines, Indonesia, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia, at depth of 70–812 meters.
Remarks. The specimens agree with the descriptions and illustrations of De Man (1920) and Chan (1996). The present specimens mainly came from the depths of 100–200 meters. Pontocaris sibogae was previously recorded from the Chinese coastal water in the South China Sea by Liu & Zhong (1994). It was previously recorded from the East China Sea by Chace (1984) and Chan (1996).
