Type species: Phragmatopoma caudata Krøyer in Mörch, 1867 ; by monotypy.
Diagnosis: Opercular crown and opercular stalk completely fused. Three rows of paleae in the opercular crown, middle paleae covering inner paleae. Outer paleae geniculate with flat blades, distal denticles and generally with middle plume. Median and inner paleae strongly geniculate directed inwards with convex blades. Nuchal hooks and spines absent. Median ridge present without median organ. Three segments in the parathoracic region with lanceolate and capillary chaetae ( Kirtley 1994, Capa et al. 2012).
