Diagnosis: Carapace with reddish dots forms smaller circles on the anterior half and narrow loops on the posterior half of the carapace. Front having straight horizontal lobes laterally placed and marginally notched rostrum medially.

Distribution: India: Andhra Pradesh (Nellore), Maharashtra ( Mumbai, Bassein, Deogad coast), Odisha (Chilka Lake, Gopalpur coast, Mahanadi Delta), Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Parangipettai coast) and West Bengal (Digha, Junput, Mouth of River Hugli, Sundarbans). Elsewhere: Australia, China, Japan, Java, Myanmar, Pakistan and Thailand.
