Diagnosis
Small to medium-sized wasps, 3.3–18 mm long; integument of body mostly black, but frequently white facial and thoracic maculations occur; terminal segments of metasoma partly red in some African species, while in a single Australian species, clypeus, antenna and some legs are bright orange; wings normal, not banded. Antennal tubercles overhung by a single broad, U-shaped frontal lobe or platform; occipital carina terminating a short distance from hypostomal carina; metasternum elongate, triangular, somewhat emarginated posteriorly, slightly overlying hind coxae; marginal cell of fore wing reaching wing margin; fore wing media diverging after cu-a while hind wing media diverging before cu-a; hind wing jugal lobe present; metasoma practically sessile, S2 with a transverse basal carina ( Bohart and Menke 1976; Krombein 1979; Ohl 2002, 2011).
