Comments: Carcinops pumilio occurs naturally in poultry house manure and is an important predator of eggs and larvae of the house fly, Musca domestica Linnaeus ( Diptera : Muscidae ) (Geden and Axtell 1988; Wilhoit et al. 1991). Carcinops pumilio has also been shown to be a reservoir of Salmonella enterica (ex Kauffmann & Edwards) Le Minor & Popoff (Proteobacteria: Enterobacteriaceae ) ( Gray et al. 1999; Tavassoli et al. 2011).
