The fasciata View in CoL -group
The fasciata -group is supported by five homoplasious characters: the elevated hump on the dorsal side of the femora (Ch. 31, state 1); the triangular tegular spine on the tegulum (Ch. 60, state 1), the grooved embolus (Ch. 73, state 0); the transparent apico-prolateral process on the TA (Ch. 81, state 1); the prominent anterior median incision on the epigynal plate (Ch. 91, state 3). It forms a monophyletic clade with sister relationship to ( sciophana - + sobria -group).
Representatives of the fasciata -group are recognized by the reduced pattern on the dorsum of the opisthosoma and by the relatively long legs. Male palps are recognized by the rostrated TA, the tegular spine and the bifurcated embolus. The PVS are cylindrical, their apex bluntly pointed.

Remarks. Kulczyṅski (1911b) described Storena fasciata from Java on the basis of a female syntype. This species undoubtedly belongs to the genus Mallinella . It is of interest to note that the female of this and the following species described below share a very similar shape of the epigyne. They appear to have close affinities with M. fasciata comb. nov. but can be distinguished by differences in the male palpal morphology and by the different configuration of the internal genitalia. The male of M. fasciata comb. nov. is described here for the first time.
Diagnosis. Males are distinguished from those of the closely related species, M. allorostrata sp. nov. and M. simillima sp. nov., by the broad embolus of which the lateral ramus is abruptly bending backwards ( Figs 641–643 View FIGURES 641–647. 644–647 ). Females are easily recognized by the diverging spermathecae being medially constricted, and the insemination ducts almost as long as the spermathecae ( Fig. 625 View FIGURES 625–633. 625 ).
Description. Male (here designated). Total length 6.74; prosoma 4.15 long, 2.58 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.30, ALE 0.20, PME 0.22, PLE 0.22, AME–AME 0.12, AME–ALE 0.20, PME–PME 0.18, PME–PLE 0.38; MOQ: 0.58 long, 0.52 anterior width, 0.50 posterior width. Leg measurements: I 15.54 (3.75, 4.74, 4.37, 2.68), II 14.78 (3.52, 4.02, 3.72, 3.52), III 13.02 (3.31, 3.79, 3.82, 2.10), IV 17.46 (3.84, 5.13, 5.75, 2.74).
Coloration. Carapace pale brown. Sternum and chelicerae brown. Legs pale yellowish. Opisthosoma dark sepia, mottled with numerous minute spots.
Palp ( Figs 641–643 View FIGURES 641–647. 644–647 ). Retrolateral side of palpal tibia pronounced, represented by elevated triangular hump. RTA digitiform, relatively short and stout, tapered towards blunt apex, slightly curved inwards. TA rostrated; apico-prolateral fold triangular, directed mesad; apico-prolateral process widened distally; meso-retrolateral fold large, triangular, directed mesad. Tegular spine digitiform, apex sharply pointed. Embolic base slightly excavated on anterior and posterior margins; anterior membranous area narrowed. Embolus with shallow longitudinal groove, lateral ramus slightly shorter than mesal ramus, subapically abruptly bent; distal part of mesal ramus lanceolate.
Female (syntype). Measurements see Kulczyṅski (1911b: 488)
Coloration. Carapace reddish brown. Chelicerae dark brown. Sternum yellowish brown. Legs yellowish brown, except for coxae yellowish. Dorsum of opisthosoma sepia. Dorsum with pale patch situated anteriorly.
Genitalia ( Figs 616 View FIGURES 615–624. 615 , 644–647 View FIGURES 641–647. 644–647 ). Epigynal plate rectangular, anterior margin with median incision, posterior margin straight. Insemination ducts as long as spermathecae. Spermathecae tongue-shaped, constricted medially, apical part bent ectad.
Natural history. Relatively large species which inhabits evergreen rainforests.
Distribution. Indonesia (Java, Bali) and Malay Peninsula.
Mallinella vicaria (Kulczy ń ski, 1911) comb. nov.
Storena vicaria Kulczy ṅski, 1911b: 487, pl. 21, fig. 36, description of ♀
Remarks. The female holotype was collected at Projot, Java and was confirmed lost by the museum curator (Dr. Dominika Mierzwa, pers. comm.). Only types of the following species described by Kulczyṅski (1911a, b) are now available in the collection of the ISZP: M. beauforti comb. nov., Asceua dispar comb. nov., M. fasciata comb. nov. Although the type was lost, it is obvious that this species belongs to the genus Mallinella and probably in this species-group considering the female genital morphology. This species is so far only known from Java.
