Type:— UNITED STATES.A Virginia ad Floridam, without date, A. Michaux s.n. (lectotype P-00545625!, designated here; isolectotype P-00545624!).
Distribution:— United States.
Notes:— There are two specimens at P collected by Michaux. One is in his North American herbarium, and the other is in the general collections through the Richard hebarium. Because Michaux described the species as well as collected the type, both specimens were available to him. We select the specimen from the Richard herbarium (P-00545625) as lectotype because it is more complete.
