Notes

This genus has 15 species, broadly occurring in the Neotropics and was recently revised by Cupello and Vaz-de-Mello (2018). Some species are widespread in the Amazon Basin ( Cupello and Vaz-de-Mello 2018). All known species are nocturnal, with most of them considered coprophagous feeding on primate, pig and cattle dung ( Cupello and Vaz-de-Mello 2018). For the identification of the species, the following works were mainly used: Cupello and Vaz-de-Mello (2018). Two species were identified in our study: Sylvicanthon candezei (Harold, 1869) and S. proseni ( Martínez, 1949) (Fig. 5 View Figure 5 E-F).
