Ecological notes: very common in all types of woodland; ancient woodland with oak, hazel and bramble; heathland; wetlands including fen, water meadows and wooded river bank; former gravel workings; dunes; old hedges; parkland with rough grassland and scrub; grassland with pingo pools; disused railway cutting; gardens; open montane habitat.
