Diagnosis: Externally, L. buruensis is distinct from all its congeners by the labial palpi with the 2 nd joint being solid (not hollowed out towards the inner side), almost cylindrical, broadest towards the bifurcated tip, whereas in L. mediobarbalis ( Janse 1931: pl. 35, fig. 4; pl. 32, fig. 13), L. obscura ( Janse 1931: pl. 35, fig. 8; pl. 32, fig. 11) and L. moncusalis ( Janse 1931: pl. 30, fig. 19; p1. 35, fig. 3; p1. 32, fig. 9.), the 2 nd joint of the labial palpi is broad, and hollowed out to various lengths with a tuft of long scales originating from the maxillary palpi, forming a fan-like structure (in some specimens protruding well beyond the labial palpi). In the male genitalia, L. buruensis is distinct in the juxta with a single long stout central spine, whereas in L. moncusalis , L. mediobarbalis and L. obscura the juxta bears two processes of different shapes and structures.

Distribution: India (Sikkim, Mizoram, Meghalaya) (present study), Indonesia ( Janse 1931).
