Comments.
A new species is currently being described ( MPM unpubl. data), only known from the Serra da Neve inselberg, where it is assumed to be endemic. Panaspis sp. 1 belongs to the same Central African lineages as P. cabindae and is part of the same clade as the Gulf of Guinea Oceanic islands species ( Ceríaco et al. 2020 b; MPM unpubl. data). This species shows some ecological adaptability occurring in both Miombo woodlands in the higher elevation areas but also in the arid Mopane lowlands ( MPM unpubl. data). It was recorded in sympatry with P. mocamedensis in the lowlands of the inselberg.
