Wania membracioidea Liu 1939: 297 View in CoL .

Balala membracioidea (Liu) View in CoL : China 1941: 255; Synonymised by Liang, 1995: 210.

Length (including forewing): ♂ 12.35 mm.

External morphology. Body dark brownish-red. Crown ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ) anterior margin round, length moderately shorter than 1/2 width between eyes. Exposed part of mesonotum and scutellum ( Figs. 1A, B View FIGURE 1 ) reaching apex of clavus, exposed part of mesonotum about 1/7 scutellum long, scutellum moderately swollen and gradually declining toward apex, median longitudinal ridge very strong and extended through entire scutellum. Forewing with one transparent band present between apical cells and appendix. Hind femur with 5 macrosetae at apex, tibia with ca. 10, 10 setae in rows AD, PD, respectively.

Male genitalia. Pygofer ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 D–F) with dorsal inner margin nearly straight, pair of strong acute teeth present on subapex of ventral margin, pointing to each other; ventral appendage with base not very broad, reaching apex of pygofer, terminal slightly curved backward. Subgenital plate nearly as long as pygofer side. Apical margin ( Figs. 1 G, H View FIGURE 1 ) of connective slightly wavy; style about 1.5x connective long; aedeagus shaft tubular without any accessory, preatrium about as long as shaft, gonopore subapical on shaft ventral surface.

Material examined. 1♂ (Holotype): ‘ Penthimia fulviventris .’ ‘Type’ ‘360’ ‘NHMUK 010592183’ ( BMNH) .

Distribution. Borneo, China, India (Assam, Madras), Indonesia (Sumatra), Myanmar.

Remarks. We checked the male specimen (MIZPAS) from Tonkin identified as B. fulviventris by Schmidt ( Schmidt, 1920a) but it should be B. lui according to the genitalia. So we delete the distributional record in Tonkin from B. fulviventris and add Tonkin to B. lui .
