4. Lemula (s. str.) confusa Holzschuh, 2009 View in CoL
(Figs. III-4, VI-4, XV-4)
Lemula confusa Holzschuh, 2009: 268 View in CoL , figs. 1a, 1b. Type locality: Kuatun, Fujian, China.
Diagnosis. Male: BL = 6.3–7.2 mm. Head and pronotum brown to reddish brown; antennae mostly dark brown; scutellum brown; elytra pale reddish yellow and basal area around scutellum more or less darker; ventral side with pro-, meso- and metasterna, abdominal ventrites I–III mostly reddish yellow, IV and V pale yellow; legs with femora mostly reddish brown except for blackish apices; tibiae and tarsi mostly dark brown. Head and pronotum bearing moderately dense short hairs except for long flying hairs on clypeus. Elytra moderately furnished with fine slanted pale hairs which are twice as long as space between punctures.
Head densely covered with small punctures; antennae reaching apical three-fifths of elytra.
Pronotum slightly longer than width at lateral tubercles (PL/PW = 1.04), moderately covered with small punctures, strongly constricted at a short distance behind apex, with a blunt round tubercle at middle of each side; disk slightly inflated on both side of median longitudinal impression.
Elytra slightly longer than twice humeral width (EL/EW = 2.05); disk with moderately spaced punctures.
Endophallus (Type B). Dorsal view: CT swollen, ds vestigial with horseshoe-shaped distinct lrs; PB weakly inflated laterally and narrower than CT and APH; APH rice-bag shaped. Lateral view: CT moderately inflated ventrally; CT and PB evenly flattened dorsally and deeply constricted ventrally; ventral inflation of PB produced distally; APH oval.
Female: BL = 6.2–8.3 mm. Similar to male, but antennae short, reaching middle of elytra; pronotum as long as width at lateral tubercles (PL/PW = 0.99); elytra shorter than twice humeral width (EL/EW = 1.90), slightly widened posteriorly to apical fourth.

Distribution. China (Henan, Hubei, An'hui, Zhejiang, Fujian).
Ecology. Flight period: March–June. Flower records: Cornus .
Remarks. As indicated by Holzschuh (2009), this species was admixed in the type series of Lemula inaequalicollis Pic (= a synonym of L. (s. str.) testaceipennis Gressitt ), and it is easily distinguishable by uniform fine short slanted hairs of elytra instead of intermixed long erect and obliquely slanted hairs. Another paratype of L. inaequalicollis preserved in the collection of NMHM labeled as “Kuatun (2,300m) 27,40n.Br. / 117,40ö.L. J. Klapperich / 1. 4. 1938 (Fukien)“ “Paratypoid / Lemula / inaequalicollis / Pic“ “Dr. St. Breuning / determ. 1954“ “Museum Paris / coll. M. Pic“ is also misidentification of this species.
