Aplidium lenticulum Kott, 1992 View in CoL
(plate 1C) Aplidium lenticulum Kott, 1992a: 555 .
Distribution. New record: Queensland (Swain Reefs, QM G305407). Although previously known from the Capricorn Group, this is the first record from elsewhere in the Great Barrier Reef. It is known also from Cockburn Sound (WA) and South Australia.
Description. The structure of the colony and zooids are identical with previously recorded specimens, and similar spherical broccoli-brown (see Ridgway, 1866) vesicles are crowded in the test, becoming larger toward the base of the colony. The photographed specimen is black, similar to previously recorded specimens of this species from the Capricorn Group, although those from Western Australia are red and the South Australian colony is aqua blue.
