Notes

This species was recorded for the nearby San Rafael Swell as Machaeranthera canescens (Pursh) Gray ( Harris 1983); the currently accepted name for this taxon is Dieteria canecens ( Morgan 2006) based on molecular analysis and reclassification of the polyphyletic genus Machaeranthera ( Morgan et al. 2009).
