Black Catfish

Neosilurus ater View in CoL , although being widespread across northern Australia, has a disjunct distribution within the Kimberley region ( Fig. 9). The species is currently only known from the Fitzroy, Lawley, Carson and Ord Rivers. While the species is relatively common in the Carson and Ord Rivers, it has only been found at two localities in the Fitzroy system, including Dimond Gorge ( Morgan et al. 2002, 2004a) and below the Camballin Barrage (not illustrated) (see Morgan et al. 2005).
