Giant Gudgeon

The problem involved with the identification of WAM specimens of the two Oxyeleotris species was discussed in regard to the preceding species. Essentially, WAM records of O. lineolatus and O. sp. from areas west of the Ord River system were subsequently identified, using Pusey et al. (2004), as O. selheimi . There are a number of records of the species throughout the Fitzroy River catchment ( Allen & Leggett 1990, Morgan et al. 2002, 2004a) and from Kimbolton, the Lawley River ( Hutchins 1981), the Carson River ( Hutchins 1977, Allen & Leggett 1990, Morgan et al. 2006), lower Pentecost (Parry Creek, WAM P.13836-001) and the Ord River ( Allen & Allen 1998) ( Fig. 50).
