Mogurnda mogurnda (Richardson) View in CoL
Northern Trout Gudgeon
Mogurnda mogurnda View in CoL in the Kimberley has been recorded in the Mitchell, Pentecost and Ord Rivers ( Fig. 47), with many of these specimens examined by Allen and Jenkins (1999) in a review of the genus. The individuals in the Mitchell River, based on lateral-line scale counts and a lower number of spots on the anal fin, appear to be M. oligolepis View in CoL (see Fig. 47). This account only includes the specimens examined by Allen and Jenkins (1999) and other recent studies. All the specimens in the WAM collections from the Ord catchment were identified as M. mogurnda View in CoL . WAM specimens of M. mogurnda View in CoL from the King George River were identified as M. oligolepis View in CoL based on the above characters. Thus, it is likely that M. mogurnda View in CoL is restricted to waters east of the Pentecost River.
