The Cryptochetidae View in CoL comprises over 30 species in two extant genera, Cryptochetum Rondani View in CoL and Librella McAlpine ( Kirk-Spriggs & Nartshuk 2021) View in CoL . Cryptochetum (Lestophonus) iceryae (Williston) View in CoL is the only recorded species of this family in Chile, but was not addressed in the CDASUS. This species was introduced to the country to combat the scale insect Icerya purchasi Maskell View in CoL in the 1930s ( Koch 1977).
