The Ephydridae View in CoL comprises approximately 2,000 species, grouped into five subfamilies and 130 genera ( Mathis & Zatwarnicki 1995; Mathis et al. 2021). The family in Chile is represented by 18 genera and 73 species since the publication of the CDASUS ( Wirth 1968), with the addition of Neoephydra Mathis View in CoL (including species transferred from Dimecoenia Cresson View in CoL ) and Paraephydra Mathis ( Mathis 2008) View in CoL , Eleleides Mathis ( Mathis 1978) View in CoL , and Diasemocera girschneri (von Röder) (Zatwarnicki 2018) View in CoL .
