Notes

Sponges form encrusting to laterally spreading masses of branches and protrusions, shaped somewhat finger-like. Maximum recorded size ~ 30 cm. Inconspicuous oscules. Surface smooth with a velvety touch. Texture very soft. Colour greenish to grey. Other members of this group have large, irregularly spaced oscules that lack raised edges (Fig. 158).
