( Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 )
Westwoodia hordei Lindeman, 1886: 367 . Phenacoccus hordei (Lindeman) , Borchsenius, 1949: 231.
DIAGNOSIS. Body of female broadly oval. Antennae normally 9 segmented. Legs well developed, with a denticle on claw, and translucent pores apparently present on hind femur. Cerarii numbering 11 pairs; 6 pairs on head and thorax, C3 with 3 short lanceolate setae and 2 or 3 trilocular pores; and 5 pairs of cerarii on posterior abdominal segments (C14–C18). Anal lobe cerarii each with 2 enlarged lanceolate setae, 2 or 3 short setae, and about 8 trilocular pores. Circulus absent. Ostioles well developed. Multilocular disc pores numerous on both venter and dorsum; present in single to double rows on dorsal surface across posterior edges of thorax and abdominal segments I–VII, and on head; ventrally, grouped on margins of thorax and in 1 or 2 rows on posterior edges of abdominal segments, and posterior to vulva. Quinquelocular pores numerous medially on head, thorax and anterior edges of ventral abdominal segments, and posterior to vulva. Trilocular pores evenly dispersed. Discoidal pores minute, scattered. Dorsal oral collar ducts of 1 size, scattered across thorax and abdominal segments I–VII, and grouped on margins of abdominal segments V–VII. Ventrally, tubular ducts of 2 sizes: a large type on thorax and margin of abdominal segments, and a small type, scattered mainly on posterior abdominal segments.
DISTRIBUTION. Palaearctic: Armenia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine. In Iran, P. hordei occurs in Tehran. It is known from 8 plant families worldwide (Ben-Dov et al., 2012).
MATERIAL EXAMINED. Tehran: Tehran, Evin, 16 adult Ƥ, on Poaceae , 3.vii.2010 (S. Farrokhi).
